THE SKYLARK

OUR JOURNEY TO OUR SUCCESS AND OUR GOALS.

The circle was initiated on Thu 28th March, 2024. At first we were all clueless that what a Case Study is and what benefit it has. But our facilitator Mr. Ahsan Zeb and Ms. Tabinda Shahzad guided us step by step and ultimately we were able to complete this Case Study. We decided to utilize our library and drill periods which are on Wednesday and Friday for detailed meetings. Venue of meeting was Computer Lab.

Our Collaboration with Yilmazlar Secondary School, Turkey!

  • We, The Skylarks of Modernage, had an exciting collaboration with the students of Yilmazlar Secondary School, Turkey!
  • Together, we presented our case studies on pressing environmental issues. Our team delved into the pressing issue of paper wastage, while our Turkish friends shed light on the importance of marine life conservation.
  • This international collaboration was a remarkable learning experience, allowing us to exchange ideas, cultures, and perspectives. We gained valuable insights into the global impact of our actions and the power of collective action.
  • We are proud to have been a part of this enriching experience and look forward to many more collaborations that foster global understanding and sustainability.

March

  1. 1. We formatted a group of 8 students who were volunteers and were eager to solve problems in the surroundings. We selected Leader and Deputy Leader by using tool of Voting. Leader was Sarim Sheraz, Deputy Leader was Sarim Sohail, Raaghib Nauroze was the reporter and M. Yaseen, Ismail Khan,Faiq Ghafoor, Aashir Rashid, Qazi Shaheer.
  2. 2. By the method of brain storming we had suggested different names for the circle and through tool voting 'The Sky Larks' name was nominated for the circle. A Skylark is a small brown bird who has the quality of singing and flying high above the ground.

April

  1. 1. We enlisted many problems by using tool brainstorming. and selected final problem by using tool of check sheets. The problem selected was 'Wastage of Paper'
  2. 2. We had to study different features of the problem for which we used Fishbone Diagram. We also used 5Ws and 1H framework. In order to identify the major causes we used a survey form and then applied pareto table to do the analysis.

  1. 1. Now that we had identified the causes we set out to see how we can eliminate these causes and reduce paper wastage. Our team suggested different solutions. We conducted awareness campaigns, showed people videos and pictures which featured how harmful it is to waste the paper, had meetings with head of WASSCA and requested him to collaborate with us to overcome the problem, activated recycle club and made a policy at school level to reduce paper wastage.
  2. 2. We checked the effectiveness of solutions implemented by again recording the frequency of the problem.

June

  1. 1. It was a matter of immense pleasure for our group when we checked the success rate of our case studies. The awareness campaigns that we conducted and policy we proposed proved to be effective and we saw 61% reduction in the cases of Paper Wastage at the school and surrounding community.
  2. 2. For standardization we proposed a proper policy to local government and school administration to avoid Paper Wastage and lead towards paper free environment.
